4 killed in separate road accidents

Hyderabad, March 14: Four persons were killed and two suffered injuries in separate road accidents in the city outskirts yesterday.

A woman was killed and two injured after the jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a RTC bus on the Outer Ring road at Shamshabad. A houswife, Manjula (28) of Mamidipalli in Saroornagar, her motherin- law Eshwaramma and brother-in-law, Babu boarded a jeep to go to Shadnagar to attend a marriage of their relatives today around 11 a.m. Four other passengers were also present in the vehicle.

On the ORR, the jeep driver tried to overtake a RTC bus and lost control.

The driver, Hanuma Naik crashed into the RTC bus from behind and veered over the service road. Manjula died instantly while Eshwaramma and the driver suffered injuries. “Hanuma Naik rammed the vehicle into the bus at a high speed.

He suffered severe injuries and his condition is critical,” Shamshabad police said. Police registered cases under Section 304A (rash and negligent act leading to death) and 337 (causing hurt) against Naik.

Meanwhile, two persons crossing the road on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway were knocked down by speeding vehicles at Hayathnagar.

V Venkatesh (32), a resident of Lingojiguda went to meet his relative at Rajiv Gruha Kalpa at Abdullapurmet yesterday. While returning, he was crossing the road when a speeding Swift proceeding towards Vijayawada hit him, killing him on the spot, Hayathnagar police inspector B Bhaskar said. The car driver fled from the spot. In another incident, Sanga Mankaiah (52), a tailor from Peddamberpet got down from a bus and was walking towards his house when an Innova hit him. He died on the spot.

In another hit-and-run incident today, an unidentified person aged around 25 years was knocked down by a speeding vehicle on the Nagarjuna Sagar road near Khanapur. The victim’s identity is yet to be established, police said.
