4 killed in accident in Arunachal

Itanagar, July 11: At least four people, including All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union women’s wing president Yagum Nguri, were killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a road accident here.

Police today said the mishap occurred when the victims were travelling in a private vehicle towards Naharlogun, which skidded off National Highway 52(A) near Mithun Gate yesterday and fell into a 60 feet deep gorge.

All the injured occupants of the ill-fated vehicle were rushed to the Rama Krishna Mission Hospital, where the doctors declared four passengers, including the young woman leader, as brought dead.

The condition of the other three co-passengers was stated to be critical.

The cause of the accident would be ascertained after investigation, police added.

Expressing shock at the incident, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said in a condolence message, ”I have no words to console the bereaved family members, who have lost their dearest ones.” He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the three critically injured, who were undergoing treatment at the hospital.
