4 J&K health officials booked for tying to molest nurse

Four senior officials of Jammu and Kahsmir health department have been booked for allegedly trying to molest a nurse here.

The complaint was lodged by the nurse at Shaheed Gunj police station yesterday.

According to the complaint, the nurse alleged that the senior most official among the four called her to his office
here yesterday and made “indecent advances” and tried to sexually assault her.

The nurse also alleged that she was asked by the four officials earlier to “spend a night with them”.

“Two of them even visited my residential quarter in Pahalgam in an inebriated condition and tried to rape me,” the
victim alleged.

She also claimed that her husband, who also works in the same department, was placed under suspension and transferred on a “fake complaint”.

Police have registered a case under Section 354-A of RPC against the officials named in the complaint.

However, a police spokesman said, “Police team visited the scene of incident and statements of some eyewitnesses were recorded, which prima facie negate the allegations.”

Statements of all the witnesses and officials having any information regarding the incident will be recorded in order to explore other angles.

“The case is being probed on fast track basis to conclude it on its merits, he said, adding that the CCTV footage has been obtained.

Earlier in February, a case was registered against senior Congress leader and former minister of state for health Shabir Ahmad Khan in the same police station after a lady doctor accused him of trying to outrage her modesty.

The police have filed a charge sheet in the case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar.

Khan had later resigned as MoS Health on February 7, a day after police registered the case.
