Baghdad, December 29: At least four people have been wounded in a bomb explosion at a parking lot near an Iraqi ministry building in the eastern part of the capital, Baghdad.
“An explosive charge detonated around midday at the parking lot in front of the Transportation Ministry building, wounding four people and destroying more than 10 civilian cars,” an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity on Tuesday.
The source added the parking lot is for vehicles of the ministry employees and visitors.
Iraqi security forces meanwhile sealed off the scene as ambulances transported the victims to nearby hospitals.
Iraq has been witnessing violence-related incidents nearly on a daily basis since the US-led invasion of the oil-rich country in March 2003.
The ongoing sporadic attacks in the war-battered country have shaped a setback to the efforts of the central government in Baghdad to restore normalcy ahead of the country’s national polls next year.
Multiple bomb attacks in Baghdad on December 8 killed a total of 132 people and wounded hundreds more.
