Lucknow: Four teenage girls were today killed after a mound of mud caved-in as they were working at a pond at Hazipur village in Bilari area of Moradabad district.
Pinki, Swati, Kiran and Mamta- all aged 16, were digging through mud in the pond for construction purpose. They were buried under a huge mound of mud as it caved in suddenly, police said.
They were trapped in a huge mass of mud and by the time locals arrived they had already died, said Inspector Ramveer Singh.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Chief Development Officer of Moradabad visited the spot and assured the villagers that relief will be provided to the aggrieved families.
