4 engineering students suspended for ragging

Guntur, March 02: The Vignan University today suspended four students from its engineering college on charges of ragging a I Year student, K Krishnakant.

Of the four accused, three are reportedly absconding.

K Krishnakant, son of ZP chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya and former chairman of Gandhalaya Samsta Kuchipudi Sambasiva Rao, filed a complaint to the police stating that the accused had been casting casteist slurs on him for the past six months.

Speaking to Express here today, Krishnakant said this had been going on in the college bus and had reached unbearable limits lately.

On February 26, while he was busy discussing project work with a fellow student, the accused once again began making malicious comments.

At the end of his tether, Krishnakant brought the matter to the notice of the principal but when no action was forthcoming from the college authorities, he filed a complaint against 35 students at Chebrole police station.

Tenali DSP P Madhusudhana Rao said the complaint was being looked into.
