4 Dreaded Bodos Militants arrested from Benguluru city

Four suspected Bodo militants were arrested from a house near the Peenya Industrial area here in the early hours of Saturday, in a joint operation by the State’s Internal Security Division and the Assam Police in Benguluru city

Bodos militants were responsible for killing Muslims and ethnic Assames and Nepalis Hindus .

This is not the first time that modules of Bodo militants have been busted in the city. Eleven suspected Bodo militants have been arrested here since 2015. The most high-profile of them was the arrest of Sanju Borodloi, an organisation secretary of a breakaway faction of the NDFB –Songbo.

The Assam police on a pursuit of all those involved in the 2014 ethnic riots, unearthed information of the gang of four militants hiding here, from their associate arrested in February and soon tipped off the State’s Internal Security Division, sources said. The ISD tracked down the militants to the house through a mobile number, one of them was allegedly using.

ISD sources said the four, allegedly associated with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), are accused in the 2014 ethnic violence in Assam.

The four had been hiding in the city for the past eight months and were working at a plastic factory in Peenya Industrial Area. The Assam police got a transit warrant from a local court.
