4 batches of IPS officers elevated

Hyderabad, December 29: A major reshuffle in the IPS fraternity appears imminent after the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) cleared promotions of four batches of the IPS today – 1986, 1992, 1997 and 1998.

Nine (IGPs) from the 1986 batch have been promoted as Additional DGPs, six of 1992 batch (DIGs) have been made IGPs, five of the 1997 batch (SPs) to DIGs and 16 officers in the 1998 batch to the selection grade.

The formal promotion orders will be issued tomorrow and new postings on December 30.

Among the 1986 batch, M Mahendar Reddy is likely to be retained in the Intelligence wing in the rank of Additional DGP while Cyberabad Police Commissioner S Prabhakar Reddy, due to retire on December 31, is now an Additional DGP.

With the promotion of 1992 batch, the post of Vijayawada Police Commissioner will fall vacant as incumbent PSR Anjaneyulu has been promoted as IGP. Other officers in this batch are – Jitender (DIG Warangal range), KVRN Reddy (Vigilance and Enforcement), HK Gupta (Vigilance and Enforcement), Nalin Prabhat (on deputation to CRPF) and N Chandramouli, a state services officer presently working as DIG (Marine policing).

In the 1997 batch, the officers who are promoted are – DS Chauhan (SP, Guntur), N Madhusudhan Reddy (DCP, South zone), Sanjay Jain (SP, Srikakulam), Y Nagi Reddy (DCP, North zone) and Vijay Kumar (DCP, Cyberabad).
