The following are the different incidents with similar actions exposed trigger happy police officers of two different countries. However, the power of a common man shadows the law and order.
US
A 25-year-old unarmed black man in Blatimore died on April 19 from a fatal spinal cord injury after an allegedly brutal arrest, however Baltimore’s chief prosecutor charged six police officers. One officer with murder and five others with lesser crimes.
The black man died inside a police van, with his arms and legs chained up, unable to shield him from the collision as he hit the interior of the vehicle.
In Telangana:
State police allegedly shot dead five Muslims from a close range in the encounter near Alair in Nalgonda district on 7 April 2015 on Tuesday morning.
Alair under-trials too were died inside a police van and they were also shackled as shown in the pictures after encounter. These prisoners had expressed the danger of their lives and their request to shift them from Warangal to Cherlapally Jail Hyderabad was overlooked.
In Andhra Pradesh:
In another incident, where 20 alleged red sanders were killed by the Andhra police in April, the same day and none of the taskforce men was injured which has raised doubts on the authenticity of the police version. However, the way in which the deceased were killed has raised uncertainties.
The aftermath and outcome
In US, when a black man was killed, five police officers were detained. The death of black man resulted in unrest in the Baltimore’s city and thousands of people took to the streets to protest which forced the chief prosecutor to charge them.
In Andhra, were a Hindu encounter took place, activists and several other political and social organisations raised their voice against the fake encounter, murder case was booked and a CBI enquiry demanded under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
The Telangana Government constituted the SIT probe in case of five slained Muslims which has not much standing in a court of law and order. And also the case has been put on the backburner as the senior IPS officer heading the team has gone on a two-week leave.
TRS government which came to power with minority support does not ordered a proper probe into it of being fake.
Muslim political parties such as MIM- who called them to be the well-wishers of Muslims, Muslim United Front (MUF) are acting as silent spectator.
There is a match-fixing going on between the TRS government, Muslim political parties and police officers because without their knowledge, how can these encounters take place.
Unless public awareness is created, these incidents may continue to haunt the common man.
