Hyderabad, December 17: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will soon inspect the completed 38 km of the Outer Ring road (ORR) stretch from Shamshabad to Peddamberpet.
The ORR, comprising eight-lane access-controlled expressway along with four lanes of service roads is first of its kind in the country.
Construction of the six-lane road over bridge (RoB) across railway tracks was recently completed on the road from Gachibowli to Peddamberpet on the NH-9.
The stretch will be opened for vehicular traffic soon. Four lanes of the ORR from Gachibowli to Shamshabad on NH-7 was allowed for traffic in November 2008. The 8-lane ORR stretch was opened for traffic in July this year.
The 158-km long Nehru ORR will be taken up in three phases.
Phase-I will be from Gachibowli to Shamshabad (24.4 km), Phase- IIA from Narsingi to Patancheru and Shamshabad to Peddamberpet (62.3 km) and Phase- IIB from Patancheru to Peddamberpet via Medchal, Shameerpet and Ghatkesar (71.3 km).
The stretch from Narsingi to Patancheru is expected to be completed by April 2011, with the 38-km stretch from Patancheru to Shameerpet to be completed by December 2011.
The 33-km stretch from Shameerpet to Peddamberpet will be completed by December 2012.
Total cost of the project is estimated Rs 6,696 crore for which the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has extended loan assistance of Rs 3,123 crore.
