36 killed as rains continue to wreak havoc in Pakistan

Islamabad: At least 36 people were killed in rain-related incidents and land-slides across Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, media reported on Sunday.

According to details, the torrential rains in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan have inundated several villages in Ghazi Garhi.

At least 9 people died in Chilas, while a family in Tangir, including five members, lost their lives after a roof collapse.

Separately, a nine-year-old boy also died in a roof collapse in Shabqadar.

On the other hand, a woman and a minor drowned in a storm drain in Swat valley while landslides blocked the Korakaram Highway at different points, stranding dozens of passengers at several places.

Five people died in Kohistan, while a boulder falling on a house in Lilonai resulted in the death of four people. Likewise, a 9-year-old died in Chilmari.

Three people lost their lives in Martong and one died in Shahpur and Chakki Sair each. Four people died as a result of torrential rains in Dir Balla and Swat.

Eight people belonging to one family lost their lives in a landslide in Muzaffarabad.
