The Central Crime Station (CCS) on Monday produced 35 persons before the court for their alleged involvement in attack on Marredpally Police Station last week.
According to police, of nearly 200 people who attacked the police station, 101 offenders have been identified and 35 of them were arrested on Sunday. “This is a case of serious rioting wherein about 200 people after forming in to unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapons launched heinous attack on Marredpally PS by criminally trespassing into the Police Station and assaulted the Police Officers on duty, obstructed them from discharging their legitimate duties and ransacked the Police Station, damaged government and private properties and also looted private and government property, which resulted in breach of peace and tranquility. They also set ablaze one motor cycle by breaking open its petrol tank, PS records including General diary and other articles and created havoc alleging that the Police were responsible for the death of Godugula Bannappa, an auto driver in Electricity Department. However a case was registered over the death of above deceased vide Cr No 207/2015 U/s 174 Cr.P.C. (suspicious death) and being investigated by CCS Police,” the Joint Commissioner of Police said.
The Police said that the offenders were also involved in damaging Karkhana PS Patrol car, two RTC buses of Kushaiguda Depot, lyenger Bakery and one push cot of a chat vendor. Total seven cases were registered on the incidents reported. During the rampage the offenders also stolen away government property worth Rs. 39,000/- including cash, two dragon lights, manpack wireless set, manpack chargers, one laptop and 18 seized mobile phones (case property) by breaking open the bell of arm of Police Station.
The arrested accused include Ganta Raju, Tokapuram Naveen @ Timmu, Ganta Sairam, Mohd Moulana, Sunnapu Hanmanthu, K. Yadaiah, Bidlani Viswender, Koota Ramu, Syed Raffeq, Ambala Kiran and 25 others. Most of the accused belong to Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in East Marredpally. Police have recovered 10 mobile phones, eight motor cycles, one auto and five iron rods which were allegedly used in the offence. Efforts are on to apprehend remaining absconding accused, police said. (INN)
