Hyderabad, May 1 (INN): As many as 31 people have been convicted by different courts for driving in inebriated condition.
While the Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu convicted 30 persons for a period of three days, the Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Siva Sankar Prasad convicted one person for a period of two days imprisonment each for drunken driving.The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend on April 26 and 27th. A total of 365 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers.
The vehicles of all the respondents were detained. They attended the compulsory counselling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal on Monday. The seized vehicles include 296 two-wheelers, five 3-wheelers and 62 four-wheelers. The respondents were produced before the III Metropolitan Magistrate Court and fines between Rs.2,000 to 2,100 were imposed.
From 1st January to 27th April, a total 4099 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 296 as on date. (INN)
