Rs 31 cr fine collected from mask rule violators in T’gana: DGP

Hyderabad: The DGP Telangana, in a report submitted to the Telangana high court today said that the state police has collected Rs. 31 crore penalty from people found not wearing a face mask in violation of Covid-19 guidelines issued by the state government.

DGP M. Mahender Reddy also said that the police have booked 98 cases against those who were found to be black-marketing Covid medicines.

In his report, he said that they had booked 339412 cases against those who did not wear face masks. He also said that they had booked 22,560 cases against those who did not follow social distance. The HC took up the hearing on the batch of petitions filed on the status of Covid virus in the state. The CPs of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda appeared before the HC during the hearing.

In his report the DGP also said that they had taken all steps for the prevention of the corona virus in the state. He said that they were taking steps for the prevention of the black marketing of the medicines. He also said that they were taking steps for the strict implementation of the ongoing Lockdown in the state. He said that they had booked a total of 431823 cases from May 1 till 14.

He said that they had booked a total of 339412 against those who did not wear the face masks and added that they had collected Rs.31 crore as fines from the violators. However the HC has expressed its displeasure over the attitude of the state government on the implementation of lockdown and night curfew .

It asked the state government to submit a detailed report on the issue. It also asked the state government to submit the details about the ongoing vaccination. It advised the State government to tie up with NGOs in order to administer the vaccine to the old age and poor people of the State.
