301 cell phones recovered by Task Force

Hyderabad, May 15: Task Force sleuths on Saturday apprehended five persons involved in stealing mobiles phones and recovered 301 cell phones from them.

Police said the accused — Mohammed Khaisar, a rowdy- sheeter of Habeeb Nagar, Syed Shakeel, Mohammed Shakeel, Syed Amjad, Syed Mukarram Hussain — used to steal mobiles by diverting the attention of the mobile users.

Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan, in a press release, said that the accused used to commit the crime by moving in an auto rickshaw.

Amjad who posed himself as an auto driver would ply the auto along with two other gang members, who will be seated as passengers.

“The gang generally targets individual passengers waiting for the auto. After the victim is made to sit in the auto, one of the gang members would steal the mobile by diverting the victim’s attention. Immediately, the gang member who had stolen the mobile will get down the auto,” police said.

The gang operates twice or thrice a week in the routes of Secunderabad railway station to Uppal, Uppal to Dilsukhnagar, Dilsukhnagar to Nampally, Secunderabad station to Begumpet flyover
