Beijing, March 13: Chinese authorities say they have arrested 3001 people and seized fake medicine, mobile phones and other goods in a 5-month-old crackdown on product piracy.
China faces pressure from the United States and other trading partners to stamp out a black market industry that is thriving despite repeated crackdowns. Chinese officials have promised their latest enforcement will produce lasting results.
Sunday’s announcement says police and commerce officials have seized 26,000 counterfeit mobile phones, some bearing the Nokia and Apple brand names, as well as fake or counterfeit liquor, medicines, electric appliances and other goods.
