Women & Child Welfare Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao today said the Anganwadis will be distributed essential commodities from ration shops from the next month. Earlier, the Anganwadis used to get the ration items from the stock point depots through transport.
The Minister held a review meeting on the Anganwadi centers and asked the officials to take steps to provide ration to the Anganwadis immediately. Next month onwards, the Anganwadi centers will get all ration items from fair price shops as per a decision, the minister declared. He also said some 300 model buildings will be constructed in backward districts of Telangana for Anganwadi centers in 10 districts. The decision will help reduce time and save ration items through bio-metric system, he said. “Quantity of ration items will be given to these centers based on the number of girls. The government will offer one-time settlement of Rs 60,000 to the Anganwadi Teachers and Rs 30,000 to Ayas above 60 years of age. Due to old age, these staff asked for some help and we have taken a decision to extend monetary assistance”, he added.
Those facing similar problems can avail the benfit, he said, adding that vacancies in the Anganwadi Centers will be filled soon. The officials should take immediate steps to fill the posts online and avoid any lobbying for transparency. An agreement was reached between the Centre and Vedanta Foundation which was constructing similar 4000 structures in 11 States, including Telangana. The minister said the works will be started if the land was given n 15 days. (NSS)
