Hyderabad, August 06: Wakf property estimated to be over 300 crores rupees is facing risk of encroachers in the Praksham district of Andhra Pradesh. The said property belongs to the Kandakur Makka masjid Praksham district. The ineffective district officials of the A.P state wakf board are said to be the main reason for the open encroachment of the property.
The masjid properties are said to be spread over 126.81 cents where as it now stands on mere 41 cents of the land, the remaining huge portion of the land has been encroached upon, a few being the members of the minority community themselves.
On the encroached portions of the masjid land many permanent structures have come up, a few house gambling dens, and bars. Even though, the said mosque has abundance of agriculture land under its properties most of it has been encroached upon.
The height of the sorry affairs is the care takers and the Iman of the mosque have not been paid salaries for the past many months. The rents collected from the properties that are still under the control of the mosque are too meager where as the wakf inspector assigned with the task of collecting the rent is taking huge rents but not depositing the same in the treasury, it is alleged.
The notices served to the encroachers have not been replied to, with limited powers of the Wakf board the ball is in the courtyard of the district administration. It is alleged that the concerned local MLA is hand in glove with the encroachers who have gone to the extent of harassing the visitors and committee members of the mosque.
