30-year-old kills live-in partner in Andheri, arrested

Mumbai: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly killing his 35-year-old live-in partner of five years
at their residence in Andheri (East).

A police officer said accused Samar Yadav killed Shalu Sameer Yadav alias Kamna Chaudhary, who worked as a waitress in Royal Restaurant and Bar on Andheri-Kurla road, because she “gave more time to her clients”.

“Yadav fled after killing her on Tuesday. Pretending ignorance, he called one of his neighbours on Saturday and told him Shalu was not picking up the phone and requested him to check whether she was at home.

“When the neighbour went to his door, he smelled a stench coming from his house and informed the police,” an officer of the MIDC police station said, adding that when police questioned Yadav, he confessed to have killed her.

Police said Shalu had been staying with Yadav at her rented house in the Suprabhat Society on the Mahakali Caves Road for the past 5 years. Yadav works in a garment factory at Marol.

“They used to fight regularly, as Shalu was regularly called away by her clients, which he did not like. On Tuesday night, they again fought and he banged her head against a wall and left her to die,” police inspector B Gurav said.

Yadav is married and his wife and four children reside at his
native place in Jaunpur, UP. Shalu also married with three children residing in Kolkata.
