Marketing & Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today informed the Assembly that the State government has so far constructed 30 market yards in the State.
Replying to queries from members in the Council on Wednesday, the minister claimed that all facilities were being provided at the market yards to cater to the needs of farmers. Though the previous governments neglected agriculture and marketing sectors, the TRS Government was giving top priority to them, he said, adding that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was committed for the welfare of the farmers and spending adequate funds for marketing facilities. He also said the State government was committed to encourage fruit markets in the State in a big way and efforts were being made to set up a market yard at Shali Bandaram area.
For Lemon market Rs 2 crore has been released and Rs 1 crore for Mosambi (Bathai) market at Nakirekal area in Nalgonda district, he informed. The minister also said minimum support price of Rs 5,200 per quintal Tur and 75 purchase centers were set up. (NSS)
