30 Indian fishermen arrested by Pakistan, for entering their territorial waters

New Delhi: With boiling tension between India and Pakistan, another incident took place today, when Pakistan maritime authorities arrested 30 Indian fishermen for allegedly fishing in their territory. Five boats were also seized by their authorities, a spokesperson from Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) informed.

The arrested fishermen have been sent to Docks Police for preceding legal procedure. They will be presented before the judicial Magistrate on Thursday and then will be sent to jail, India Today reported.

On April 27, 29 fishermen were arrested by PMSA and five boats were seized, while on March 26, the PMSA had arrested 100 Indian fishermen and seized 19 boats while in early March some 85 Indian fishermen were arrested and sent to jail.

However, Pakistan released 219 fishermen on January 5 as a good gesture and had already released 220 fishermen on December 25.

Due to lack of proper technologies, fishermen from both the countries keep on staying in the illegal waters. Who are frequently arrested by maritime agencies of India as well as Pakistan.
