At least 30 persons fell ill seriously on Saturday night after consuming polluted water in tribal hamlet Motiramguda under Dheersaipeta gram panchayat in Utnoor mandal of the district.
According to the information, there are 38 houses in the Motiramguda and the people were drawing water for drinking through two hand pumps. As the hand pumps became dysfunctional, the tribal people fetched water from an agricultural well on the village outskirts and consumed it. With this, the people of the hamlet fell sick with vomiting and loose motions since Saturday night.
On receipt of the information, the Health and Medical team rushed to the hamlet and treating them. However, four people were shifted to the government hospital as their condition turned critical. (NSS)
