Cyberabad In-charge Police Commissioner Rajiv Ratan on Saturday said that YSR Congress activities were planning to let loose vandalism in the State capital and outskirts in the event of the CBI taking their party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy into custody.
Speaking to media persons here, Ratan said that the Miyapur police have arrested three YSR Congress activists in this connection. He said that the accused were plotting to set RTC buses on fire in the city if Jagan was arrested. A large number of bottles filled with petrol were seized from their possession.
The Cyberabad police chief disclosed that they were also investigating into their activities of sending SMSes to various persons in this regard. He said that they have intensified patrolling and checking of vehicles and frisking of suspicious persons in the city. Besides, surveillance was also increased in the State capital and outskirts, he added.
Ratan said that the Miyapur police intercepted two messages which read, “Tmrw most likely boss arrest. Be prepared 4 jail bharo…Kotimreddy Vinay Reddy.”
“Be prepared around 4 pm tmrw, vl inform location tmrw… Kotimreddy Vinay Reddy”.
The police caught three activists of YSR Congress red-handed and foiled their plan to burn 100 RTC buses in Hyderabad and Cyberabad limits.
According to the information, on Saturday (May 26) at 05.45 hours, when a Blue Colt patrolling party comprising PC 268 Osman and HG 1426 Narsing of Miyapur police station reached Bollaram crossroads and noticed Saggu Srikanth Reddy s/o Anji Reddy, 27, R/o H. No. 7-1-307/111/G/2, Lingaiah Nagar, Sanath Nagar, native of Bhoodan Pochampally of Nalgonda district and K.J. Eliazar S/o K J Joseph, 45, R/o SRT-672, Sanath Nagar, who came to the spot on a black Bajaj Pulsar (AP-11-AM-8984) with a bottle of petrol. On suspicion, the cops brought the duo to the police station. On interrogation, they confessed that they are staunch workers of YSR Congress and working with one Vellala Ram Mohan S/o VVR Sastry, 38, of Ramya Breweries, Sanath Nagar, R/o SRT-692 Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad.
They also confessed that on Friday they were arrested by the Panjagutta police while they are protesting at Dilkusha Guest House suspecting that Jagan might be arrested any moment. However, they were released in the evening. On returning home, their leader Vellala Ram Mohan instructed them to set fire to RTC buses in the twin cities. Accordingly, the duo came to Bollaram crossroads carrying a petrol bottle with an intention to set fire to RTC buses.
On suspicion, the police arrested them and seized a bottle containing one litre of petrol and Black Bajaj Pulsar. Ram Mohan, who came to the Miyapur police station on his Fortuner car (AP-9CK-2225) was also arrested. He admitted that as per the instructions of State party leaders Kotimreddy Vinay Reddy, State YSR Congress Party Sevadal president Putta Pratap Reddy, State Youth president of YSRCP M.S. Raj Thakur, Ranga Reddy district & Hyderabad City Central Executive member, he had directed his two workers to set fire to RTC buses and damage the public property in protest against CBI quizzing Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In this connection, a case in Cr. No. 245/12 U/s 120-B, 436 R/w 511 and 34 IPC and 7 & 8 of Criminal Amendment Act was registered at Miyapur Police Station. A hunt for the remaining accused was on. (NSS)
