Gurgaon: A three-year-old girl was allegedly beaten with a stick at a playschool here by her teacher, who has been booked in connection with the case.
The teacher at the playschool in the Maruti Kunj area of Bhondsi is absconding after the incident, said Hawa Singh, ACP (PRO) of Gurgaon police.
The child was hit on her head by the teacher and received deep cuts, he said, adding that the injuries have been confirmed in a medical test.
The child’s mother noticed a blood clot and deep cut on her head after she returned from school yesterday.
When she questioned the child, she was told that a teacher had hit her with a stick.
The mother alleged that the teacher and the school authorities did not even provide first aid to her child.
Today, the mother and other relatives of the child visited the school and quizzed the teachers about the matter.
The accused teacher claimed she was scolding another child when she accidentally hit the victim.
The mother of the child, meanwhile, alleged that she and her mother-in-law were assaulted by the school staff when they went there to enquire about the matter.
“The child’s family has lodged a complaint at Bhondsi police station. A case has been registered under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against the accused teacher, who is on the run,” said Singh, adding that the girl was studying at the playschool for the last couple of months.
