Kochi: A mother who ruthlessly subjected her three-year-old boy to torture breath his last at a private hospital while undergoing treatment for a severe head injury he suffered from the torture near Kochi on Friday morning, doctors said.
The minor was undergoing treatment at the hospital in Aluva after he was hit by a wooden object on the head which led to severe brain injury allegedly caused the child’s death, PTI reports.
The Post mortem report will reveal the real cause of the death doctors said while the boy’s right side of the brain was fully damaged.
According to sources, the minor had slipped into a coma after being allegedly subjected to torture by his mother for being ‘disobedient’.
Though the boy had undergone surgery at the private hospital, he did not survive.
The police have now arrested the ruthless mother who hails from Jharkhand yesterday.
Police have filed a case against her under IPC Section 302 (murder). Earlier, she was charged under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act (punishment for cruelty to child).
The shocking incident came to light when the boy’s father had brought him to the hospital on Wednesday night claiming the boy fell off a desk. Suspecting foul play, the doctors informed the police.
Not only the boy was beaten up but the doctors found several burn injuries on several parts of his body.
The Kerala government offered to bear all the expenses of the treatment. The government had also sent a team of experts from the Government Medical College Hospital, Kottayam for providing better medical care to the child.
