3-year-old dies after being hit by Blueline bus

New Delhi, January 17: A three-year-old girl died while her mother and uncle were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Blueline bus in west Delhi Monday evening, police said.

The girl, Ritika, was with her mother Sapna and uncle Mukesh when the bus hit them from behind at around 6.30 p.m. at a traffic intersection in Multan Nagar in Paschim Vihar. They were on their way to a wedding in Madipur, in Paschim Vihar area of west Delhi.

“The trio fell to the ground on impact and Ritika and her mother sustained serious injuries,” said a police official.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared the child brought dead while the mother is recuperating. Her uncle received minor injuries.

According to police, the bus plied on route number 929 from Old Delhi to Mubarakpur. The driver of the bus fled and enraged relatives pelted stones at the bus.

The girl’s grandfather Shyam alleged that police arrived on the scene two hours after they made a phone call informing them of the incident.
