Three Emirati wives have filed court cases seeking divorce from their husbands, saying they can not stand them any more because of their failure to meet their commitments towards them, a newspaper reported on Saturday.
The three filed for divorce at the Family Guidance and Rehabilitation Centre in Ras Al Khaimah, which referred the cases to the personal affairs court after failing to find an out-of-court settlement.One wife said she wanted to split from her husband after he failed to keep his promise and let her pursue studies to obtain a masters degree in medicine.“He made the promise in the marriage contract but he back off his promise…I have waited for years so he will change his mind but he did not,” she said.
The other wife said she decided to seek divorce after learning her husband had married another woman without telling her.She said she was asked by her husband to evict the house and live with his mother with her three children so he can have privacy with the new wife.“The centre tried to find a solution but the wife insisted on divorce on the grounds her husband is also cruel and has become unbearable….she also demanded that the husband must provide a separate house and pay monthly alimony to her and the children,” ‘Emarat Al Youm’ daily said.
The other woman also insisted on divorce from her “unbearable and irresponsible” husband, saying he no longer supported her.“She said she was paying rent and most of the house needs…she also said he recently started to beat her up before throwing her out of the house…the woman stressed that she can no longer stand the situation and insisted on divorce.”
