3 security personnel for each VIP, 1 cop for 953 citizens

Following Dilsukhnagar blast people are apprehensive over shortage of police force in the state. One would be surprised to know that that Andhra Pradesh’s police personnel to population ratio is 1: 953.

Residents opined that corruption in police department is also a big issue due to which police have no control over the people. In Middle East and Europe only 4 to 5 police personnel can control a crowd of thousands of people because the cops are not corrupt. Here in our country murder incidents occur in broad daylight. Incidents of riots and chain snatching occur frequently but the corrupt police reach the spot only after the crime is committed.

Some believe that even as rising crime poses a serious threat to the security of the common citizen, with police personnel to population ratio of 1: 953, it is hardly surprising that police forces remain overworked and understaffed.
