New Delhi, April 28: Three more persons were arrested in central Delhi for their alleged involvement in a Rs 1.57 crore theft from a business house, taking the total number of arrests in the case to seven.
The gang had allegedly burgled the office of Tarun Goel and Company in central Delhi”s DBG Road on March 25.
Rajesh (22), Sanjay Kumar (26) and Sunil Kumar (35) were apprehended recently and Rs 79.92 lakh was recovered from their possession following interrogation of four other persons — Balraj (25), Yogesh (23), Rakesh (36) and Sonu (21).
A total of Rs 1.25 crore and documents of a flat purchased from the stolen money worth Rs 12.35 lakh have been recovered so far.
Balraj is a former employee of the company while Sonu is presently a peon there. Rakesh also worked there earlier as a driver.
During investigation, Balraj and his associate Yogesh were apprehended from New Delhi Railway Station on March 29 while they were trying to escape from Delhi for Khurja in UP. They were carrying huge cash.
“Balraj is the mastermind behind the crime. He had the knowledge about the transaction of cash through this office. He was shunted out about a year back for doubtful integrity.
“He was nursing a grudge against the employer and hence he associated three of his friends alongwith Sonu, Rakesh and Yogesh and committed this theft.
The three friends of Balraj are still at large,” a senior police official said.
Balraj is pursuing graduation through correspondence. He worked as an assistant to an advocate at Tis Hazari Court.
