Itanagar: Three members of a family were charred to death in a fire that gutted a thatched hut at Bat village, near here, in the early hours today.
The charred remains of Bake Tagin (30), his wife 26-year-old Bake Ana and four-year-old daughter Bake Neme were found from the gutted house, Extra Assistant Commissioner J Bomjen said.
Tagin, a farmer, was staying in the traditional thatched house.
The cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained.
Local MLA Techi Kaso along with Bomjen rushed to the spot and extended financial help for conducting the last rites of the victims.
In view of the repeated fire accidents in and around the capital complex and the state, Kaso blamed haphazard power connection without following the laid down system.
A case has been registered at Itanagar Police station, Bomjen said, adding ex-gratia would be granted to the next of kin of the deceased after police submitted its report.
