New Delhi, July 22 : Three people were killed and an equal number injured when a fire broke out in a shoe factory in the Sultanpuri area in outer Delhi early this morning, fire officials said.
The blaze erupted at around 0500 hrs and immediately three fire engines rushed to the scene. Due to the fire, two lintels of the factory collapsed and the roof gave way, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of those present there, the officials informed.
The fire engines took around an hour to extinguish the flames.
The injured were immediately raced to hospital. Two more people were still trapped in the debris and a rescue operation was on to extract them.
The owner of the factory was absconding and police were tailing him.
