3 killed as RTC bus rams into car

Hyderabad, October 12: Road mishaps claimed the lives of five persons while two others suffered injuries on the outskirts of the city since Saturday night.

In the first incident, three occupants of a car were killed after a RTC bus hit their vehicle at Shamirpet on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, five friends from the city were returning from Siddipet in Medak district in a car. “As they reached Majidpur outskirts, an RTC bus proceeding to Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district rammed the car at high speed,” Shamirpet police sub-inspector M Surender said. Two of the occupants, Someshwar Bhupathi (45) of Mehdipatnam and Somasekhar (38) of Gachibowli were killed instantly. Another person, Sai Kumar (35) of Gachibowli died while being shifted to a hospital while two others, Venkat Reddy and Francis, were being treated at a hospital.

Police said the RTC bus was being driven in a rash manner. The bus driver fled from the spot. Five bus passengers also suffered minor injuries in the accident.

“The impact of the accident was such that the car engine was ripped out of the vehicle and the front portion was completely smashed. It took nearly an hour to remove the body of one of the trapped occupants of the car,” police said. In another accident late on Saturday, two motorists were killed after a lorry hit their vehicle at Medchal.

According to the police, two friends, Guravaiah (40) of Nizamabad and Shaik Vali (28) of Karimnagar, were coming to Madhapur to visit the relatives of the former. As they reached Medchal checkpost, a lorry coming from the opposite direction hit them.

Guravaiah died instantly while Shaik Vali died while being shifted to a hospital.
