3 Israelis wounded in West Bank attack

Jerusalem, July 14: The military says three Israelis have been wounded, one seriously, after being attacked by stone-throwing Palestinians in the West Bank.

The three were returning early Tuesday from praying at an ancient gravesite near the town of Qalqiliya, in the northern West Bank, when they were pelted with stones from a nearby wedding celebration. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

The injured men were evacuated to an Israeli hospital where they were treated.

The military stressed that the Israelis entered the Palestinian area without a permit and without prior coordination and put themselves at great personal risk. Israelis are barred from entering the Palestinian-controlled zone without an army escort.
