In a joint operation, sleuths of LB Nagar and Saroornagar nabbed three members of the notorious Irani snatching gang on Wednesday.
According to DCP LB Nagar Division, three accused Fathe Akram Ali, 23, Hyder Akram Ali, 20, and Javed Ali alias Jaweed, 35, were arrested while two others Khalander, 24, and Bolu Afsar Ali, 25, were absconding. He said the gang committed 32 chain snatchings under limits of various police stations under LB Nagar Division. The gangsters were committing offences posing as police offencers, diverting attention and ATM cheating in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and major other cities in the country, he added.
The five-member gang belonging to Katol of Maharashtra and Hosangabad of Madhya Pradesh used to commit snatchings in UP and Bihar with low returns. On coming to know that women in Hyderabad wear more costly jewelry, they started committing snatching offences in Hyderabad and other south Indian cities. The gang comes to Hyderabad by trains from Hosangabad and Katol and get down at Railway Stations. From railway stations, they take bikes, which are already parked in the parking place of Railway Station and move in the City and commit snatching cases. After committing the offences, they retreat to their native places by parking the motor cycles in the same place, by train.
Efforts are on to nab the notorious absconding snatchers Khallender and Bolu Afsar who are suspected to involved in several snatching cases of Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates. Gold chains weighing one kilogram and two motorcycles were seized at their instance. .
The Irani Gang members were arrested by LB Nagar Division Crime team consisting of Sri S. Murali Krishna, DI LB Nagar, Sri K. Sunil, DI Saroornagar, Sri S. Laxman, Sri T. Avinash Babu DSI’s and Crime staff of LB Nagar Division and interrogated them thoroughly under the supervision of Sri Tafseer Iqbal, IPS DCP LB Nagar, Sri P. Venugopal Rao, ACP LB Nagar. The above gang voluntarily confessed to have committed total 32 snatching offences in various Police Stations in the limits of LB Nagar Zone, Cyberabad Commissionerates. (NSS)
