The city police along with the task force have arrested three persons while two were at large on the charges of kidnapping the Yashoda Hospital Doctor Ch Sreeharsha Reddy on September 3 last. East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Y Gangadhar told a press conference here today that on the next day the police have received a complaint from Dr Suwalka that Dr Harsha, DNB Radiologist in Yashoda Hospital, was missing from September 3. The complainant also said the kidnapped doctor also called his wife and father on the fateful day but he didn’t tell anything about his whereabouts and the conversation was not coherent. Mr Gangadhar said a case was initially registered as ‘Man Missing’ and investigation was carried out. During the course of the investigation, the missing doctor Sree Harsha was traced at Nuziveedu in Krishna District on September 7. He later disclosed to the police about he abducted by one Y Srinivas Reddy @ Nalla Srinivas Reddy of his own village and four others.
Based on his statement, the section of law was altered to 364 (A) IPC, he said.
The DCP also said on credible information today the police deputed a special team to Nuziveedu and apprehended the accused persons– Yeruka Reddy Srinivas Reddy, Munnagi Shivaiah @ Johny, Sudi Reddy Durga Reddy who is a software engineer in Hitech city here. The trio hailed from Krishna District, the police official said, adding the other two accused persons Sudi Reddy Murali Krishna Reddy@ Murali, Car driver and Valla Raju@Kumar, tractor driver were yet to be apprehended. Explaining the modus operandi of the case, he said during their confession, Yeruka Reddy disclosed that due to his bad habits like drinking, Womanizing and gambling, he lost his properties and fell into huge debts and as such they hatched a kidnap plan about one-and-half month back. For the purpose, he purchased a SIM card by using false ID proof and he used this SIM exclusively for kidnapping operation to avoid clues to Police and ascertained his information.
The accused also said prior to September 3, they attempted thrice to kidnap the doctor who is a land lord and Doctor in Yashoda hospital to get Rs 50 lakh from his father and to distribute among themselves to clear their debts.
Yeruka Reddy also purchased a new car, white colour car, cell phones for this operation Mr Gangadhar said. The main accused with the help of Sudi Reddy Durga Reddy, a software professional, tried to misguide the police by moving in Hyderabad and other places with the Victim Cell phone to misguide the investigation agencies, the police official said.
