The East Zone Team of Commissioner’s Task Force has nabbed three persons, who were fraudulently claiming health Insurance on fictitious names and addresses from various corporate hospitals across AP and Karnataka States. The Task Force personnel also recovered net cash of Rs 3,80,000 and other incriminating articles .
In a pressnote here today, the City Police Commissioner stated that the accused were identified as Cheedala Srinivas alias Srinu, 33, Nimmannagoti Venkateshwarlu, 34, Burra Sharat Kumar, 27, and another accused Syed Basha is absconding. He also stated that the cops seized medical bills in the name of five members, empty letter heads of different existing and non-existing hospitals, five PAN cards of different persons, eight bank cheque books of HDFC, ICICI and OBC Banks, seven Insurance cards of different persons and various Insurance companies, implant stickers of various companies. Voter ID cards, two Laptops, five Cell phones, one Hero Honda Passion Pro Vehicle.
The Commissioner of Police has stated that the principal accused C. Srinivas, who worked as a lecturer hatched a plan to earn easy money by claiming Health Insurance. Towards this end, he took help of V. Sharath Kumar, a native of Suryapet, N. Venkateswarlu, an employee of Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills and one Syed Basha of Anantapur, who is an employee of TTK Company, Bangalore.
The modus operandi of the main accused Srinivas was that he used to collect details of health insurance of employees in IBM and other companies through Syed Basha and N. Venkateshwarlu. Details of other inpatients with similar names undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital are collected and medical bills and fake ID proofs are fabricated and enclosed along with claims of non-existent patients. Letter heads of non-existing patients are prepared and the amounts of the claimants are drawn by opening bank accounts in the name of such fictitious claimants. The accused Basha, Sharat and Venkateshwarlu were given 10% share whereas 20% of the amount was spent on miscellaneous expenses.
TTK Company got suspicion about such claims over a period of time when Srinivas revised his modus operandi. Patients, who were unable to bear the cost of treatment in Apollo Hospital, SRS, SNM, Manipal Hospitals were admitted as dependents of patients having insurance cover by promising to pay 50% of the total Insurance Charges.
The city police chief stated that Sharath Kumar used to do field work like collecting documents from the Hospitals, assisting in verification, opening of bank accounts, sending courier and so on while Nimmannagoti Venkateshwarlu used to access the data of inpatients, who have undergone treatment at Apollo Hospitals and provided information.
The arrests were made under the supervision of S. Chaturvedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Zone, by R. G. Siva Maruthi, Inspector of Police, and Sub Inspectors K. Kastro, V. Ashok Reddy and A.Sudhakar along with the staff. (NSS)
