3-day RSS conclave begins in Nagpur

A three-day conclave of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to discuss a wide range of issues, including inter-state water distribution and border disputes, began at the organisation’s headquarters here today.
About 1,400 swayamsewaks holding important positions and heads of various committees are attending the Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha, in which the election for the post of general secretary will also be held,’ Manmohan Vaidya, publicity wing chief of RSS, told reporters.
The RSS functionaries like V Satish, Bal Apte and Ramlalji, who work in the BJP, will also participate in the meeting, he said.
The meet will discuss various issues including inter-state water distribution, border disputes and growing linguistic-based divisions, among others, he said.
It will also take up the issue of 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekanand, which will commence in January next year. Various committees are being formed to celebrate the occasion, Mr Vaidya said.
To a question, he said the Sangh played a role of mediator between the warring groups in Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the water distribution from Mullaperiyar dam.
About the election of general secreatary, Mr Vaidya said the elections will be held on April 18, he added. UN
