3 cops arrested for allegedly robbing 7.94 lakh

ALMORA:Four persons, including three policemen, were arrested for allegedly robbing 7.94 lakh rupees cash from a Bareilly based jeweller Anup Agarwal , the police said.

A sub-inspector, Virendra Kumar Verma, a city patrol unit constable and a constable at Kathgodam police station were arrested on Thursday. DIG Kumaon Range Pushkar Singh Sailal said.

According to the jewellers complaint, The accused policemen have been suspended after being arrested and an FIR has been registered against all the four people.

Agarwal was carrying cash worth Rs 7.94 lakh after selling jewellery at Almora, where the four robbed him and divided the money equally among themselves. The DIG said.
