Lakhimpur, April 24: Three persons, including two children, were charred to death and four others sustained serious burn injuries when a fire broke out in Kanshiram Purwa village in Phoolbehar area here, police said today.
Guddu (8), Shivam (8) and Gauri (25) were killed while over three dozen hutments burnt to ashes in the incident that took place yesterday, they said.
The injured have been admitted to the burn ward at the district hospital where their condition was reported to be serious.
Chief Development Officer (CDO) Madan Pal Arya said the reasons behind the fire could not be asceratined yet.
An exgratia of Rs one lakh is being extended to each of the aggrieved families while revenue officials have been instructed to assess the losses so as to provide compensation to the victims as per government norms, he said.
