3 arrested for looting petrol pump in Haryana

Chandigarh: Three persons were arrested today for allegedly robbing Rs 27.22 lakh at gun point from the salesman of a petrol pump at National Highway 8 in Rewari, police said.

The police also recovered Rs 10 lakh in cash, a country made pistol and ten live cartridges from their possession.

The accused were identified as Arvind, a resident of Gujriwas and Sukhbir as well as Dhanraj, both residents of Bhudla in Rewari district, a police spokesman said.

He said that during interrogation, the accused informed the police that Arvind, who used to work at the same petrol pump, had quit job two months ago.

He said that Arvind along with Sukhbir, Dhanraj and Rajpal had planned to rob the petrol pump.

According to their plan, they committed the loot and thereafter Rajpal and Sukhbir fled on a motorcycle.

While they were crossing NH-8, their motorcycle skidded as they were overtaking a vehicle. Rajpal got injured and is undergoing treatment at Aditya hospital.

The spokesman said that out of the total amount looted by the accused, the police has recovered Rs six lakh from Sukhbir, Rs four lakh each from Dhanraj and Arvind.

Besides, the police also recovered two motorcycles used to commit the crime, he added.

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants had looted Rs 27.22 lakh at gunpoint from employees of a petrol pump on the Delhi-Jaipur highway near Jai Singhpur Khera village here on September 22.
