Three police personnel from Andhra Pradesh have been detained here after a case was registered against them for allegedly assaulting a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) of an express train today. The three were returning to Andhra Pradesh by Chennai-bound Nellai Express after handing over a warrant at Tirunelveli when TTE Annamalai, after verifying their ticket, asked them to go their seat and produce their travel warrant. A heated exchange followed and the Policemen allegedly attacked the TTE, police said. As the news about the attack spread, the other TTEs and railway staff stopped the train at Dindigul and held an agitation. Railway Police asked the three Andhra Pradesh policemen to get off the train. A case was registered against them on a complaint by the TTE. The train was delayed for 45 minutes here following the incident, the officials said. PTI
