The work of second Waqf survey is still in progress but the Waqf Board officials are surprised to learn that attached properties to various institutions are shown less compared to first survey. The latest example is of historical Shahi Masjid of Public garden. As per the first survey the land attached to it was 13811 sqyds while according to second survey the land attached to it has shrunk to just 10499 sqyds. Thus the Horticulture Department has virtually occupied 3361 sqyds land of Shahi Masjid. No measures were taken by Waqf Board and Minority Welfare to protest 3361 sqyds land as state government has no interest in the matter and Horticulture Department has refused to conduct the survey again.
Officers say that the land was acquired for extension of assembly premises and construction of road while the fact is that the land adjacent to Masjid is under the control of Horticulture Department they have done fencing around the land for its protection and a temporary room has been built for the staff. Puja has begun in the room.
