2nd ODI: Australia beat South Africa by 7 runs

Adelaide: Australia ended their seven-match losing streak to beat South Africa by 7 runs to ensure a series-levelling victory in the second ODI in Adelaide.

Asked to bat first, Australia were bowled out for 231 in 50 overs. Although the Aussies failed to be consistent with the bat, four batsmen from the side went past the 40s to ensure a respectable team total. Among the Proteas bowlers, Kagiso Rabada picked up four wickets for 54 runs, while Dwaine Pretorius made several breakthroughs, picking up three for 32 in 10 overs.

Set 232 to win, the Proteas only managed to reach 224 for 9 in 50 overs, leaving the series tied at 1-1. The Proteas were too sluggish with the bat, despite batsman David Miller’s stubborn 51 off 71 deliveries.

Miller, however, was removed by Marcus Stonis, who was the star among the Aussie bowlers, as he scalped three wickets for 35 runs.

With the series now levelled 1-1, the decider will now be played in Hobart on Sunday.
