Lucknow, October 01: Janata Party president Subramanium Swamy on Sunday said Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s assertion that he was not in the know of the ministry’s March 2011 note was “misleading the people”.
The note being mentioned is actually an “office memorandum” which is not prepared without the assent of the minister concerned, he said.
Terming 2G spectrum as a “test case”, Swamy said the “exposures” in it and action taken thereafter against the accused have proved that the prevailing laws were effective enough to deal with corruption.
Swamy said that as an economist he finds corruption as one of the biggest causes of inflation and in order to rein in the problem an effective control over graft was necessary.
