As per Supreme Court directive to curb traffic violations and ensure safety of the commuters, the Hyderabad Traffic Police, in coordination with the RTA officials, would suspend the Driving License of the motorist for major traffic violations. In cases of Drunken Driving, specific violation and cancellation of permits/registration proposals are being sent to RTA for Suspension of Licenses.
The following are the violations and cases sent by Hyderabad Traffic Police to the RTA for suspension of driving licenses. The Traffic police sent 217 cases under drunken driving and specific violations 61 totalling 278. Out of 278 cases, in 36 cases the Driving licenses have been suspended by the RTA and also in other cases the process is being carried out.
There will also be cancellation of Permits /Registration of Autos plying without meter, with tampered meter, without valid driving license, permanent seating modifications and unauthorized autos from other districts. Thus a total of 129 cases have been sent to RTA for cancellation of Permits/Registration of Autos. (NSS)
