27.5 kg gold seized at Rajahmundry airport

The police recovered tonight 27.5 kg gold from a passenger in the airport for under valuation of gold. Income Tax officials are in the process of checking bills for the gold he purchased in Chennai. Rajahmundry Urban Superintendent of Police Ravi kumar told PTI tonight that a passenger from Chennai with a 27.5 kg gold woth a market value of Rs 7.5 crore, under declared its value by producing a bill of Rs 36 lakhs. The gold allegedly belonged to Khajana Jewelleries, he said, adding that Income Tax department officials are questioning the passenger. PTI
