The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) on Friday informed that at the end of August, it was observed that, the Telangana State received -6% below normal rainfall during the period (June +50%, July -3% and August -42%).
Out of Ten districts, nine districts Adilabad (+2%), Nalgonda (+1%), Ranga Reddy (-2%), Mahabubnagar (-2%), Warangal (-3%), Khammam (-4%), Nizamabad (-8%), Karimnagar (-10%), Hyderabad (-13%) normal rainfall and one district Medak (-25%) received deficit rainfall.
Out of 459 Mandals, 3 Mandals received scanty rainfall; 125 Mandals received deficit rainfall which includes Medak – 26 mandals, Karimnagar-17, Mahabubnagar -16, Nalgonda – 14, Ranga Reddy – 13, Nizamabad -12, Warangal – 11, Khammam – 7, Adilabad – 5 and Hyderabad – 4 Mandals; 258 Mandals received normal rainfall and 73 Mandals received excess rainfall. It indicates that 72 % of Mandals of the State received normal or above normal and 27% Mandals received deficit rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast that most of the districts of Telangana State will receive light to moderate rainfall from 03rd to 09th September. (INN)
