27 Engineering Colleges face closure

Hyderabad: Indian Council for Technical Education has given approval to various colleges offering Engineering, Pharmacy, MBA and other professional courses.

Some of the Engineering colleges have voluntarily withdrawn and other colleges were closed down by JNTU for not fulfilling certain conditions.

In view of this, 27 Engineering colleges are facing closure resulting in the loss of 8887 seats for Engineering students.

It may be noted that during the academic year 2018-19, in 228 Engineering colleges, there were 1,14,247 seats available.

Due to non-compliance of requirements, this year, only 95,235 engineering seats will be available.

All India Council for Technical Education has permitted only 210 Engineering colleges to admit students against 1,05,360 seats.
