265 sent to jail for drunk and drive vehicles

Hyderabad: City Traffic Police was continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety. Up to December 15, the traffic cops caught 961 drivers who were found driving vehicles in drunken condition. Charge sheets were filed against them and were produced in the III & IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.

In this regard, the Metropolitan Magistrate Courts awarded imprisonment to 265 accused and Permanently Cancelled / Suspended Driving licenses of 58 offenders for a period as mentioned below. The Courts realized fine amount of Rs 20,89,400 on the remaining 903 Traffic violators. All the candidates were sentenced to undergo imprisonment and sent to Chanchalguda Jail. Police said the convicts may face difficulties in getting govt jobs, passport and visa clearance.

The convicts were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive against drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on the road.
