26 candidates qualify in spite of scoring zero in EAMCET

Hyderabad, June 9: 73 students scored zero marks in all subjects in Eamcet 2011 however 26 of them were declared qualified. Of them, 17 have qualified in the engineering stream and 9 in the medical stream.

Although nine students have “qualified” in the medical stream, they cannot take admission into medical colleges as the Medical Council of India stipulates that to be eligible for admissions into medical colleges, candidates must get a minimum of 50 per cent marks in Eamcet and in BiPC subjects in Intermediate. They can, however, take admissions into agriculture and veterinary colleges.

On the other hand since no minimum marks are stipulated for the SC/ST students and the state offers 2.85 lakh seats in engineering stream, students who qualified for the engineering stream can enter engineering colleges.
